Audio 2/22/25

 Audio 2/22/25

Imagine this you are watching a horror film in your living room, the lights are off and you just hear slow scary music from the film you're watching that anticipates something, then you get jump scared! When creating any type of film, audio is incredibly important, let us think about this, without any sound what would a film be like? just a soundless video. I do not even know where to begin on why audio is so important because it adds so much to a scene and it can invoke so much emotion without saying a word. There is a variety of sounds that can be used but let us jump into some kinds of sound that I want to use in my project.

Before we get into the complex use of audio let us stick to the basics. I will include the use of diegetic audio. Diegetic audio is the audio coming from the actors. They can actively hear it whether it is used on screen or off screen. Diegetic audio is super important to my film opening because it adds dimension and develops the characters and the plot. The next type of audio that I would like to utilize is non-diegetic audio. Non-diegetic audio is a theme song, background music or sound effects, even narration and many more. I would like my film opening to open with music and slowly die down when the characters start communicating.

Using audio in my film opening will assure the audience an engaging film opening to watch. The acknowledgment of audio and applying it is just one step closer to creating a successful film opening.
