Mis-en-scene elements 2/21/25

Now that I have discussed the first mis-en-scene element that I would want to incorporate in my film opening, it is time to move to my second choice. I have decided to focus on costuming. When thinking about costuming, it is important to think about how you want a certain character to be portrayed or look. For example, in a horror film you are not going to have super bright colors, you are going to have darker colors like black and red, to invoke fear and anticipation. Additionally, let us dive into how costuming will be incorporated in my film opening.

For my film opening, which is a sports comedy, based on two best friends who are aspiring baseball players, and they try to create a team. As most baseball players wear uniforms.  For example, baseball players have cleats, jerseys with their numbers on them and many more. However, since these two boys are not initially on a team in my film opening, I wanted to incorporate some bright colors and loose fit sports clothing. The audience will not see this but towards the end of my entire film, the two characters' wardrobes will change.

Some colors I would like to utilize for Luca are yellows, blues, and oranges. These colors will display his character development and represent his personality. Colors that I would use for Nora are primarily oranges, yellow and green. Not to mention both characters will have baseball caps.

As a result, paying attention to color theory and costuming, I feel as if using these strategies and paying attention to how I want to represent each character will help me in my film opening.
