Double Play

Now that I have finalized my genre, which is a sports comedy, I will be diving into my plot. Over the course of picking my genre, I have done a lot of research revolving around genre to ensure I make the correct decision to make a successful portfolio project. I have previously provided some examples of sports comedies, but my inspiration is The Sandlot. Evans, D. M. (Director). (1993). The Sandlot [Film]. Twentieth Century Fox. Of course, it is not the exact plot, but I just like the idea of the sport, Baseball. But first let us discuss my title, I have decided to title my film opening Double Play. The reasoning behind this is because my story revolves around 2 best friends, I payed close attention to the prefixes of certain word and have previous knowledge of baseball. Hence why my film opening is called " double play".

Speaking of baseball, coincidentally, I have a little brother who plays on a baseball team, I thought it would be the perfect idea to create a film opening inspired by The Sandlot, Evans, D. M. (Director). (1993). The Sandlot [Film]. Twentieth Century Fox. While also utilizing my resources.

It starts off with two best friends that both enjoy playing baseball, (Luca and Nora). They are sick and tired of playing alone and not having anybody to bond with. While the two best friends are playing, they produce the idea of creating a team. Not just any team. According to my script, the “SUPER-MEGA-BESTEST BASEBALL TEAM”. The two friends go through a series of events that leads up to their initial tryouts. For example, posting flyers around their town to promote their team.

As a result of the hard work being done, my film opening will be showing the hands of who picked up who found a flyer in a quick montage format to capture their individual reactions. Additionally, my film opening will be cut off after Luca and Nora announce the beginning of their tryouts. This is because I want to leave my film opening on a cliffhanger as it should be- introducing the characters, establishing the setting, but not exactly giving the ending away.

In addition, the movie would continue to flow, and the audience would be able to see the tryouts and each individual kid who is not Luca and Nora try out and may do funny things to incorporate sense of humor and highlight the genre. As soon as the team is assembled, they will start to prepare for the Golden Championship. This competition is super important to the team because something is at stake, the Golden Championship Ball, this ball is particularly important to the characters in the story because they have seen their idols win this championship. My movie would end off with the team winning. I look forward to creating my film opening.
